WHAT'S ABSORBABLE CURCUMIN?
Botanical Essence's Absorbable Curcumin is derived from the Indian turmeric (Curcuma longa), a type of ginger. Curcumin, one of the three curcuminoids present in turmeric (the others being desmethoxycurcumin and bis-desmethoxycurcumin), gives turmeric its characteristic yellow color and is widely used as a food colorant and additive.
Harvested from the dried rhizome of the turmeric plant, which is extensively cultivated in South and Southeast Asia, our curcumin retain ranges from 2% to 5%. Once ingested, several organic and synthetic factors can hinder the absorption of curcumin in target areas. Curcumin is fat-soluble, having no practical solubility in liquid formulations more acidic than pH 6, promoting auto-oxidation.
